Week Eight
Finishing Your Project
This is it! The final week of the Summer Book Club QAL! We hope you’ve had loads of fun and been inspired by your fellow makers’ projects. Whether you’re still working on blocks or assembling your project this week, we want to see your progress! When you post a photo this week, include the hashtag #sbcqalweek8 in your caption, follow this week’s sponsors, and you’ll be entered for a chance to win this week’s giveaway!
We have TWO awesome sponsors this week: Cottoneer and Storts Market. Cottoneer curates some of the most beautiful bundles, which I’m constantly inspired by. Storts Market creates gorgeous one-of-a-kind pincushions using antique salt cellars and glassware. I’ve got a full collection of her creations, and each one is a work of art.
Cottoneer is offering a $25 shop credit, and Storts Market is offering a Pincushion Pal to this week’s winner! Be sure to follow all instructions on the Instagram account (@katebasti) for details on how to win!
Want to join in?
There’s no need to sign up. Just start sewing along! You can jump in at any time. Follow @katebasti on Instagram for the weekly details, and tag your posts with each week’s special hashtag so that the rest of us can see your growing masterpiece!
Need the Tall Tales pattern? Visit my Etsy shop! The pattern sells for only $1, and all sales benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities through the end of 2022. Some quilters will also opt to use my Taller Tales pattern bundle which features three additional book patterns, however, this is completely optional.
The Schedule
What you create is entirely up to you! Make a quilt, wall hanging, table runner, pillow sets – anything goes! And because your project is unique to you, your schedule will be, too. The schedule below will be used as a guideline throughout the eight week QAL, but you can tailor it to fit your needs. For example, if making a large quilt, you’ll want to decide how many Tall Tales blocks you’ll need for the project to then determine how many blocks you’ll need to complete each week. The fun begins June 6th!
Week 1: Decide Your Project & Pull Your Fabric
Week 2–7: Make Tall Tales Blocks
Week 8: Assemble Your Project
Charity drive
Did you know that my Tall Tales pattern has benefited local and national charities for years? Sales from the $1 pattern are donated on a monthly basis and have raised thousands of dollars for more than a dozen charities. This year, all sales of my original Tall Tales pattern are being donated to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, and I’d love to use this QAL opportunity to raise even more funds for those in need. I’m asking each of you to please consider making a donation. Together, we can do some good in this world and help children and their families navigate a difficult time in their lives. Any amount helps, and no contribution is too small. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
